Blessings to you from our community network of sex trafficking survivors.
We have been striving to reach consistent communications with your community for a long time. Grounded in our love, appreciation, and respect for your work in the world and the powerfully caring nature of your community expressions, we feel the especial importance of this contact for our safety and for yours.
We are striving to communicate in the midst of very severe neurological and physical pain and disablement.
We have started again to try to write template messages that can be sent to communities we have been working particularly hard to connect with, because we care about you, and it is harming and killing us to keep trying to reach out without a clear sense of whether you wish to receive our communications.
We have written the following, as of this morning, to start sharing with all possible communities. We made some small changes in the template's words so that we can be speaking to you directly — as we wish profoundly to be in direct, continuing communication for all community members' safety.
If a community cannot receive communications from, talk with, and include sex trafficking survivors in community relationship-building or in community activities… the community increasingly, unwittingly, invisibly draws trafficking organizations and operatives to its spaces.
(To speak this in a different way: If crushed cookies are left on the floor overnight, we'll get ants.)
Though most human trafficking is facilitated to be invisible to the less-affected community members, we trafficking survivors experience this circumstance as extreme ongoing danger, violence, and destruction to our families and physical bodies. We would like to be safe in your spaces.
We would like you to be safe in your spaces, too.
Our friends and colleagues are killed, repeatedly, as over years and decades we strive to communicate with communities that are increasingly affected, as yours is. I've been trying to make a stabilized connection to your community spaces, especially for my colleagues in much greater danger and distress, for many years. We have come to significant harm through these attempts, but we feel it is important to try again. I am deeply grateful for any response we may receive.
Our bodies are being fundamentally, brutally changed by the inability of almost all communities to recognize us, respond to us, and prioritize respectful dialogue with us.
These communities have been intentionally incapacitated by trafficking organizations who well know that the next step is to pick us up, as they have planned it; if we anchor neurological trust for a community, exclusion from that community's awareness leaves us essentially (and predictably) defenseless.
If we find no communities to be able to meet our litmus for trust in communications — as has almost entirely been the case over many years — neurological facility cannot be fully enough repaired to allow us to be recognized as living beings in any community.
As trafficking organizations typically create severe neurological injuries in order to change communications capacities, you will never know that sex trafficking survivors are trying to communicate if you do not prioritize hearing from them and build steady, honorable community relationships with them.
Where community members and community leadership do not recognize or respond to us, we cross-reference with the kinds of violence we have experienced in those environments and data being shared by survivors’ groups across the network; as a result, we already know what trafficking pathways are active in the environment.
Can we please communicate these pathways?
We have been documenting for years now how communities like yours — communities that uplift marginalized voices and foment powerfully healing respect-and-connection modalities — are being actively targeted by operatives.
We don’t think communities want to tithe their living beings and other commoditizable resourcing to the local trafficking organizations… but that’s what’s happening.
Does your community want to know how to prevent this?
We have been trying for some years now to communicate it.
We are requesting your assistance, importantly and urgently.
We continue to pray for success.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for generously prioritizing this important conversation.
With hope, faith, and profound respect for ants,
Mack Morris
